Job Description: 

Premier Business Consulting is seeking a property accountant to support our property management client. This is a full-time role located in London, ON.

Job duties: 

  1. Prepare monthly financial statements and related management reports, including consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  2. Prepare and post accrual journal entries each month for the correction of financial statements as well as for closing month and annual books.
  3. Assist with the budget and forecasting processes.
  4. Identify and analyze variances between actual and budgeted financial results, providing explanations.
  5. Prepare and send audit packages for the end of the year to the external auditor. Provide the requested documents and answer the audit questions.
  6. Provide training to on-boarding accountants and oversee the full accounting cycle.
  7. Successfully coordinate the integration of new clients into the accounting workflow, which includes preparing a chart of accounts, opening bank accounts, and preparing opening balances.
  8. Process payroll and WSIB.
  9. Maintain files that include mortgage schedules, insurance liability schedules, capital warranties, and revenue contracts.
  10. Follow internal controls and any other related government policies.
  11. Prepare and remit HST, personal, and corporate income tax returns.
  12. provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as requested.
  13. Plan, set up and administer accounting systems
  14. Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal control
  15. Develop financial plans for clients
  16. Prepare reports and audit findings
  17. Make recommendations concerning cash management, insurance coverage, investment planning, retirement and estate planning
  18. Prepare financial statements and reports
  19. Recommend improvements to accounting systems and management practices
  20. Conduct field audits of businesses to ensure compliance with provisions of the Income Tax Act, the Canadian Business Corporations Act or other statutory requirements
  21. Review and examine financial services and institutions to ensure compliance with governing legislation and regulation
  22. Examine accounting records
  23. Provide financial, business and tax advice

Supervision

  • 1 to 2 people

Experience and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or education in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Property accounting experience is required, along with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  3. Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Buildium software)
  4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high volume.
