Now Hiring - Childcare Worker

Kapawe’no First Nation is seeking caring and compassionate individuals for multiple Part-time Childcare Worker positions. 


Job Summary 

Under the direction of the Nation Manager the Childcare Workers will be responsible for providing top quality care and education to children ages 12 months to 5 years. Our main goal is to enhance the lives of every child enrolled in our daycare program. 


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise children and ensure the delivery of programs and activities are carried out in a safe an effective manner. 
  • Interact with children ages 1-5 in a developmentally appropriate manner and encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Prepare snacks and meals for children
  • Provide play-based structured and unstructured activities for children.
  • Maintain safe and healthy spaces and adhere to licensing and health standards.
  • Communicate with Parents and/or Guardians. 
  • Perform and follow-through with administrative and professional development tasks. 
  • Carry out other duties as required and assigned by the Nation Manager.


Skills & Qualifications

In addition to bringing a commitment to Kapawe'no First Nation vision and values, the candidate should possess the following competencies:
  • Certified Childcare Level 1, 2 or 3.
  • Grade 12 or higher.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Training
  • Experience working in a daycare facility and/or setting.
  • Patience, Empathy and Compassion skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to interact with children of all ages. 
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and its impact on families, particularly children.
  • Ability to work independently and be a team player.
  • Competent computer skills, including the use of Microsoft applications.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license and clear driver’s abstract. 


This position requires a clear Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check attached with application.
